Why he made the list: When people think of theater in gay Atlanta the first name that pops up is Topher Payne. In fact, people new to the community may think he is the only gay actor/writer in town. He has been named as the best actor and best writer multiple times by various local media groups and theater fans. He got his start back in 1997 when, as a teenager, his play “Road Hazards”, was produced by the New Stage Theatre. Since then his career has enjoyed great success.
What else you need to know: Topher was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Also, he starred in a film called “Str8 Chaser” which won the audience award at the 2008 Out on Film Festival.
